What’s Happening at Williams Week of 2.6.23
We would like to follow-up on the incident that took place resulting in a half-day dismissal on Wednesday. First, we would like to thank everyone for their understanding while we made our way through the morning. We understand that the unknown can be frightening and we hope you all know that your child’s safety is our number one priority. That said, we did learn a couple of things. First, it is important for all families to have emergency plans in place should school need to close early. We found that some families have the same number listed for multiple Emergency Contacts. There needs to be additional ways to contact someone for your child in case of an emergency. We also learned that people are not listening to the messages sent from the school, instead simply calling the school stating they missed a call. PLEASE listen to the message as it will contain information you will need. Our hope is that we never have to deal with another situation like this again.
To help support your children in dealing with this type of situation, we ask that you please talk with your child(ren) about the importance of using proper language and the seriousness of any type of threat. We do live in a world where every threat is taken seriously for the protection and safety of all.
We would like to remind parents who drop off or who pick up their children that we need everyone to wait patiently in line, following the procedures that we have in place. These procedures allow us to move students as efficiently and safely as possible. Thank you for your help with this.
We have some exciting news to share regarding the American Heart Challenge. As of Friday morning, our students have raised just over $5,000. We now have a goal of beating our all-time high amount of $7,162, collected in 2016.
Saturday, February 11th will be the Daddy-Daughter Dance at Williams Elementary Gym from 5-7 pm. Admission is $10.
Planning ahead: There will be no school on Friday, February 17th and Monday, February 20th due to the scheduled Mid-Winter Break.
