Students in Mrs. Rogers' 4th grade classroom were able to watch a movie and enjoy popcorn as part of our *PBIS Acknowledgement system. *Every day students have the opportunity to earn tickets by showing Comet P.R.I.D.E. (Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Dependability, Encouragement) or for doing something that an adult would like to recognize as being done well. Students can then use their ticket(s) to enter drawings, either as an individual in the classroom, or for the chance to win an experience for their entire classroom.

Movie time!
Students in Mrs. Hardway's 4th grade classroom recently visited the U.S. Capitol through a virtual fieldtrip. Mrs. Hardway shared, "This field trip to the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. was especially fun because the students were very excited about "traveling" to the home of our Government and the President. It was especially rewarding for me to see how much they remembered from our lessons, videos, and games. The questions they asked even stumped one of the presenters. I had no idea that people have attempted to change our Constitution over 11,500 times." What a great experience for our students! Thank you, Mrs. Hardway for making this happen.

Mrs. Snyder's 3rd grade class completed a virtual field trip this week about the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The students learned about Tony Sarg. They watched videos on blowing the balloons up, making balloon animals, and creating a float in a design room! Then they listened to the book Balloons Over Broadway (The true story of the Puppeteer of Macy's Parade). Finally, they put their engineering skills to work and built their own balloons. The class created some array buildings in math and walked their balloon through the town! Overall, the kids were excited about the topic and their classroom parade. From Williams Elementary: In a effort to study for their test and practice map making, Mrs. Snyder’s 3rd grade students recently made Michigan maps. Students then shared the maps with their classmates, explaining the unique characteristics of their map. These posters included human characteristics, physical characteristics, natural resources, and more.

Over the course of the last month, 5th grade students have been working hard at school learning about the four major regions of Native Americans in the United States. Students then took all their new knowledge and select their favorite Native American region to create a diorama at home. The diorama included the housing, food, environment, etc. for their selected region. Students had to write a paragraph about their region to present along with their diorama. This 5th-grade group did a wonderful job on their projects. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do! https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/e/2PACX-1vRT2ImkDpJnR14rNg3tEKA49eF81yErGwguD2EfNFwG_DUV_JK0oovL_ECHsIU9gYsgg7EKDkn2Mv93/pub?start=true&loop=true&delayms=3000

As you know, we ran an athletic facility bond over the summer and it was defeated. The vote was very close but it’s important to understand why people voted the way they did whether it was yes or no. The survey is on our main page at Jonesvilleschools.org. The survey is anonymous. We are just looking for insight from our community. If you’ve already taken the survey there is no need to take it again. We appreciate your help with this! Go Comets!

Friendly reminder to take our survey on the athletic bond. The link is in the email sent from Sunday night. It’s very quick and provides us with useful information as we decide how to proceed. Thank you to all of our Comet families who have already completed the survey!
